Caipirinha de Uva

From the kitchen of Carly

Fresh grapes and lime muddle into something brighter than a classic caipirinha, while a splash of white wine softens the cachaca's bite. Cooling and refreshing with real fruit texture, not just citrus sharpness.

4 servings

  • 14 lime wedges (from 1/2 lime)
  • 17 green grapes
  • 12 teaspoons raw sugar, such as turbinado or Demerara
  • 11/4 cup (2 ounces) cachaca
  • 13 tablespoons (1 1/2 ounces) semisweet white wine such as Gewürztraminer
  • 18 to 10 ice cubes
  • 11 (4-to 5-inch) wooden skewer

Instructions

  1. In cocktail shaker, stir together lime wedges, 5 grapes, and sugar. Using wooden muddler or spoon, pound and press until fruit is crushed and juices are released.
