HangryHQ is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any restaurant brand named anywhere on this site. We write copycat recipes because home cooks ask "can I make that at home" and we like answering yes. None of the chains we discuss have any business relationship with us.
Trademarks
All brand names, dish names, and logos referenced on this site belong to their respective owners. We use brand and dish names nominatively (to identify the dish a copycat draws from), which is permitted under fair use. We do not reproduce trademarked logos. Brand hub pages render typographic marks only.
Title formatting on every copycat page makes the relationship explicit: "Copycat {Brand} {Dish} Recipe", with the description leading on "Inspired by {Brand}". The build-time trademark guard (`lib/trademark-guard.ts`) enforces this at every release.
Copyright on recipes
Recipes themselves are facts, and facts are not copyrightable in the United States. The list of ingredients, the procedural steps, and the cooking techniques are public. What is copyrightable is the descriptive text, the voice, the editorial framing.
All descriptive text on HangryHQ is original. We do not copy headnotes, instructions, or marketing copy from any chain website, cookbook, or publisher. Every word is in our voice. If you find content that reads like it was lifted from somewhere, please let us know and we will fix it.
Chef adaptations
When the chef vertical lands in V1.2, recipe pages attributed to a named chef ship as full prose rewrites. We do not copy headnotes or instructions from cookbooks or shows. Every chef recipe links to a publicly available original source so readers can compare. The framing is "Inspired by {Chef}'s {Dish}" or "{Chef}'s {Dish} (our adaptation)", which falls within nominative fair use.
Holiday and editorial content
All holiday hubs, Game Plans, top X lists, and editorial articles are original. Photographs and illustrations are either commissioned for HangryHQ or licensed from stock libraries. We do not reuse imagery from chain websites or external publishers.
