Ayran is a tangy Turkish yogurt drink that hits different on hot days. Whipped smooth with cold water and a whisper of salt, it's refreshing, savory, and slightly herbaceous when you add mint. Chill it down and sip slowly.

Ingredients

4 servings

  • 11 pint plain yogurt
  • 11 pint cold water
  • 1Salt to taste
  • 1Optional: 2 tablespoons crushed
  • 1dried mint

Instructions

  1. Pour yogurt into a bowl and beat until smooth, add water and continue beating until thoroughly blended, or combine in an electric blender and blend until smooth. Season to taste with salt and dried mint. Chill thoroughly and serve in tall glasses, with ice.
