Garlicky Runner Beans

Runner beans get the treatment they deserve here: slicked with garlicky oil, blistered until lightly browned, and finished with a squeeze of lemon. Red pepper flakes add just enough heat to make every bite interesting. Simple, bright, and entirely addictive.

Ingredients

  • 11/4 cup olive oil
  • 14 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
  • 11 1/2 pounds green and/or yellow runner beans, trimmed
  • 11 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1Kosher salt, freshly ground pepper
  • 11 lemon
  • 1halved

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add garlic and cook, stirring, until golden, about 2 minutes. Add beans and red pepper flakes; season with salt and pepper and toss to coat. Cook, tossing occasionally, until beans are crisp-tender and lightly browned, 8–10 minutes. Transfer beans to a platter and squeeze lemon over.
