Chinese Broccoli With Soy Paste

Tender steamed broccoli draped in a savory soy paste sauce that's umami-rich and deeply satisfying. The crisp-tender florets soak up every bit of that salty, fermented glaze. Simple, clean, and addictively good as a side or light vegetable course.

Ingredients

4 servings

  • 11 lb. Chinese broccoli or broccolini, trimmed, cut in thirds crosswise
  • 1¼ cup soy paste (such as Yu Ding Xing)

Instructions

  1. Set a steamer basket in a large pot filled with 1" water, cover pot, and bring water to a boil. Add broccoli to steamer basket, cover pot, and steam broccoli until crisp-tender, about 5 minutes.

  2. Meanwhile, whisk soy paste and 2 Tbsp. water in a large bowl.

  3. Arrange broccoli on a platter and drizzle sauce over.
