Blue Cheese, Apple, and Sage-Honey Crostini

From the kitchen of Carly

Creamy blue cheese and crisp apple slices meet on toasted baguette, then everything gets the good stuff: sage-infused honey that's warm, floral, and perfectly balanced against the cheese's sharp bite. Simple, elegant, dangerously easy to eat too many of.

Ingredients

4 servings

  • 15 sage leaves
  • 11/2 cup honey
  • 11 baguette, cut diagonally into 1/2-inch-thick slices
  • 1Extra-virgin olive oil, for brushing
  • 1Kosher salt
  • 1freshly ground pepper
  • 18 ounces mild blue cheese (such as gorgonzola), room temperature
  • 11/2 apple
  • 1thinly sliced (preferably Macintosh or Honeycrisp)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. In a small saucepan, warm the sage and honey over medium-low heat until fragrant and the honey just begins to bubble, about 4 minutes. Remove from heat and let steep for 10 minutes. Discard sage and let honey cool to room temperature.

  2. Lightly brush one side of each bread slice with oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Place slices on a rimmed baking sheet and toast in oven until golden brown, about 7 minutes. Remove from baking sheet and let cool. Spread blue cheese on baguette slices and top with apples and walnuts. Drizzle toasts with sage honey.
