Tart blackberries and peppery basil meet a homemade ginger concentrate in this sophisticated take on the classic mule. Muddled fresh and balanced with lime, it's a grown-up drink that tastes like summer and ginger spice collided.

Ingredients

4 servings

  • 11 cup sliced ginger
  • 11/2 cup coconut sugar
  • 13/4 cup filtered water
  • 11 cup blackberries
  • 13 fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 11 lime
  • 11 cup sparkling water

Instructions

  1. To make ginger concentrate, add the ginger, coconut sugar, and water to a saucepan. Bring to a boil; then lower the heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 1 hour. Strain out the ginger. Divide blackberries and basil between two glasses. Muddle into the bottom. Squeeze 1/2 lime into each glass. Add 3 tablespoons ginger concentrate to each glass, then add 1/2 cup sparkling water to each and mix to combine.
