Bird of Paradise
From the kitchen of CarlyAperol and overproof rum cut through bright pineapple and lime in this crushingly good tropical drink. A homemade sugar syrup ties everything together, while crushed ice keeps it properly chilled. One sip and you're somewhere warm.

Ingredients

- 11/2 cup sugar
- 11 oz. Aperol
- 11 oz. overproof rum
- 11 oz. pineapple juice
- 11/2 oz. fresh lime juice
- 11 pineapple leaf (optional
- 1for garnish)
Instructions
Combine sugar and 1/4 cup water in a jar, cover, and shake until sugar is dissolved.
Combine Aperol, rum, pineapple juice, lime juice, and 1/4 oz. syrup in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Cover and shake vigorously 30 seconds. Strain into a glass filled to the brim with crushed ice and garnish with a pineapple leaf, if desired.
