Bibimbap

From the kitchen of Carly

Bibimbap layers seasoned ground meat, a perfectly fried egg, and bright vegetables over warm rice, then you mix it all together with a glossy soy-sesame sauce. It's a bowl that rewards you for stirring, every bite different from the last.

Ingredients

4 servings

  • 13/4 cup soy sauce
  • 16 tablespoons toasted sesame oil
  • 14 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 11 pound ground turkey, beef, or pork
  • 12 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 14 large eggs
  • 12 cups cooked rice (Chinese takeout works well)
  • 1Assorted vegetables (shredded carrot, canned baby corn, spinach, bean sprouts, red onion ), steamed or raw
  • 1Toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. 1 Mix together the first three ingredients; set aside.

  2. 2 In a pan, brown the meat in half the vegetable oil, about 5 minutes. Add half the soy-sauce mixture and continue cooking until the liquid is absorbed, 3 to 4 minutes. Remove from heat and cover.

  3. 3 In another pan, fry the eggs in the remaining vegetable oil, 4 to 5 minutes.

  4. 4 Divide the rice among 4 bowls. Arrange some vegetables and meat and an egg in each. Sprinkle with the sesame seeds, then drizzle the remaining soy-sauce mixture over the top.
