Basil Vodka Gimlets

Bright, herbaceous gimlets built on homemade basil lemon syrup and clean vodka. The basil stays front and center, herbaceous and grassy against tart citrus. Stir cold, pour over ice, and garnish generously with fresh basil and lemon zest for maximum flavor.

Ingredients

  • 11 cup basil lemon syrup
  • 13/4 cup vodka
  • 13/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 11 cup ice cubes
  • 1Garnish: fresh basil sprigs (preferably lemon basil); lemon zest strips
  • 1lemon zest strips

Instructions

  1. Stir together all ingredients in a pitcher until cold, then strain into 8- to 10-ounce glasses (such as Old Fashioned) half filled with ice.
