Asian Glazed Salmon

From the kitchen of Carly

Rich soy and hoisin glaze with ginger, lime, and a whisper of heat coats salmon fillets that finish under the broiler until the edges caramelize and the flesh stays tender. The sauce thickens into something sticky and deeply savory, worth every minute of your time.

Ingredients

4 servings

  • 11/2 cup brown sugar
  • 11/3 cup soy sauce
  • 12 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 12 tablespoons peeled and sliced ginger
  • 1Dried red pepper flakes
  • 11/2 teaspoon chopped garlic
  • 11 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 11 1/2 to 2 pounds salmon fillets

Instructions

  1. Place the sugar, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, ginger, dash of red pepper flakes, garlic, and lime juice in a medium nonreactive saucepan.

  2. Bring the mixture to a boil, reduce the heat to medium, and cook for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the sauce forms a glaze. Set aside.

  3. Preheat the broiler.

  4. Place the salmon fillets on a broiler pan and baste with the sauce. Let sit for 15 minutes. Broil them until cooked through, about 8 minutes, basting again with the glaze.
